Hampshire Pallets Ltd is registered under the United Kingdon Wood Packaging Material Marking Programme for Wood Packaging Material Manufactured in Great Britain.

We have undergone an assessment and demonstrated that wood packaging material manufactured on the premises can be produced using the approved measures as specified in the International Standard for Phytosanitare Measures No. 15 of March 2002 on Guidelines for regulating wood packaging material in international trade, prepared by the Secretariat of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC).

We are authorized to apply the ISPM No. 15 Mark in accordance with the Plant Health (Wood Packaging Material Marking)(Forestry) (Great Britain) Order 2006.

ISPM15 Heat Treated Timber

Heat Treated and Kiln Dried is a process used to reduce moisture content from the timber.

Heat Treated and Kiln Dried timber can be beneficial to you and to your customers depending on your applications:

Lower moisture content equals higher strength and lessens corrosion to nails or other metal fixings used to construct the pallet/crate.
To make empty pallets easier to move by hand since Kiln Dried timber is lighter than green undried timber.
Helps eliminate possible contact water damage through absorption if transporting paper, polystryrene, or cardboard products.
Reduces the growth of mould or other forms of fungal decay.
Reduces shrinkage of the timber after production.
Certain countries require certification (ISPM15) of Heat Treated timber. Please contact us with your destination and we will advise.

Pallet Components

A pallet is made from lots of different components. Here is our handy guide:

Deck Board: One of the boards that make up the deck.
Deck: An assembly of boards that make up the surface of the pallet.
Stringers: The load-bearing boards of a 4 Way Pallet to which the deck boards are fixed.
Bearers: Timber to which the deck boards of a 2 Way Pallet is fixed; providing space between top and bottom for entry forks.
Blocks: Timber or composite blocks that connect the top deck assembly to the base of a 4 Way Pallet providing space between top and bottom for entry forks.
Base Boards: Boards located on the bottom of the pallet adding rigidity and strength.
Free Base Entry: Base boards that are positioned to allow easier entry for pallet trucks.
Perimeter Base: Base boards arranged to provide a level surface on all sides to the bottom of the pallet with an additional board(s) across the centre. Suitable for pallet trucks.
Reversible: Top and bottom deck of pallet are identical - usually not suitable for hand or powered pallet trucks.
Wings: Deck boards protrude beyond stringers or bearers. Often used in conjunction with shrink wrapping.
